Handball
Since 2012, we have set up a video referee assistance system for the French Federation of Handball.
Handball
Since 2012, the Vision Sport team has developed a video referee assistance system in partnership with the French Federation of Handball. This system has also been used at the two last European Handball Federation FINAL4 events and at the two last International Handball Federation Super Globe tournaments.
It is in Qatar, for the 24th Men’s Handball World Championship held in Qatar that a video referee assist system was used for the first time in a major handball competition, and it is our technology that has been chosen (see video).
Karting
Karting races are organized in France by private organizations after authorization of the French Federation of Automobile. The Vision Sport team has set up a video assistance to the referee judges upon request of the organizers of NSK races. Indeed, competitors can be penalized or excluded from a race in case of infringement of the rules or of the safety instructions.
Until then, only the "judges of facts” recorded the offenses noting the drivers involved and the place of the incident or violation. It was difficult for the judges to make decisions calmly especially if drivers dispute these decisions. The quality of analog videos, when available, only rarely allowed to arbitrate. Since 2014, the use of our system in the karting races led to an increase in the number of viewing angles (including starting lines), an improvement of the records quality of recordings (HD Broadcast format) allowing a more accurate judgment of offenses that cannot be challenged by competitors any longer and a better reactivity since the images can be immediately replayed and extracts can be stored for the referees. We can also embed a video in another video, starting lights for example, a synchronization of images that improves among others the monitoring of false starts.
Our experience of different circuits (Le Mans, Laval, Angerville,...) and also of the rules of Karting races enables us to guide judges on the positioning of cameras, on the methodology of decision making. The need to follow the race leader with a camera also allowed us to propose a broadcast "Live" mutualizing thus the video assist system to the creation of a video program of races accessible to everyone.
